Our Work Argument Maps
See the shape of an argument.
Political and policy debates are often chaotic and unproductive. Most debates — whether in a pub or a boardroom — never lead to action or changed minds.
Argument Maps is a collection of visual maps that lay out every significant position in a policy debate, showing how arguments support, counter, or bridge across opposing views.
Each map can be viewed from the perspective of a variety of personas.
The maps were built with AI and are best understood as high-level thinking tools rather than definitive analyses grounded in real-world data.
Rather than reinforcing the loudest arguments, the maps offer a way to surface the most useful ones — particularly the bridging arguments that resonate with people who disagree on almost everything else.
The goal isn’t to win debates but to identify where collective action might actually come from. In a polarised landscape, that’s arguably the most valuable thing a debate tool can do.
If you’re trying to navigate complex public debates, prepare briefings on policy, campaign on political issues, teach students about political issues or just understand public debates more, have a look at the maps.
